Resignation of Cllr Joe Taylor

A Truro City Councillor has resigned from his post to concentrate on his charity work helping disadvantaged children by taking them surfing. Mr Taylor runs The Wave Project an initiative that uses the calming nature of the sea to help children and young adults with learning difficulties.

Recently expanded, the project now covers three counties and Mr Taylor says he can no longer give his position as a councillor the time it deserves. He said: "The Wave Project is taking off, helping children all over the south west.

"On top of that I have a young family and another child on the way who I need to give some time to. It makes sense to stand down and let someone take on the position who can give it the time it needs.

"Some people may ask why I stood again in May. Since then, The Wave Project has grown rapidly to the point where I have to work seven days a week."

A bye-election will be held shortly to fill the vacancy created.
