LOCAL PEOPLE MUST BE FULL CONSULTED ON ALL MAJOR NEW DEVELOPMENT - MAYOR NOLAN

Following his election as Mayor of Truro Councillor Rob Nolan has come out fighting accusing planners at County Hall of ignoring the wishes of local people and being "hand in glove" with developers who wish to make a fast buck out of Truro at the expense of local people.

The Mayor is furious that the prospect of a new stadium to the west of Truro has been floated without a proper explanation of the price tag which could be an extra 3,500 houses and yet another supermarket to the west of Truro.

"Truro City have done an amazing job getting into the Conference and I am all in favour of a new stadium to be shared with the Pirates, but not at any price and definitely not without the approval of local people.

Truro is already under huge pressures from developers with the prospect of more new build houses and a supermarket on a greenfield site to the east of the city, a massive new house building scheme to the west would spell disaster."

"What concerns me most of all is that local people are being bounced into making a quick decision without proper consultation and without being given all of the facts. If at the end of the day local people want all of these developments then that is their decision. I see it as my job to make sure people are properly informed."
