LIB DEM LEADER SUPPORTS HOSPITAL PARKING CAMPAIGN
The Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg backed Terrye Teverson's campaign to scrap the current parking charges at the Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske during a visit to Truro this week.
Hundreds of people have already signed Mrs Teverson's petition calling for a change in the way parking is charged for at the hospital. Top hospital managers have agreed to a meeting with Mrs Teverson later this month to discuss the charges.
"I was delighted to be able to show Nick firsthand the parking system at the hospital," Mrs Teverson explained.
"The charging system currently in place is clearly not fair - having a name like Nick Clegg backing my campaign helps keep it near the top of the hospital's agenda."
Mr Clegg was visiting Treliske Hospital before giving a speech at a dinner to mark the 35th anniversary of David Penhaligon's historic election victory in 1974.
