Bring it back to Falmouth - Mathew McCarthy launches parking petition

18 Jun 2015

Mathew McCarthy has launched a petition calling on Cornwall Council to devolve control over our car parks to Falmouth Town Council.

Mathew's recent resident survey in the Penwerris ward of the town showed that much of the parking problem on Famouth's streets is caused by commuters avoiding steep parking charges in town.

Mathew said: "Car parks like the Quarry stand half empty because Cornwall Council charges a fortune for commuters to park there.

"If local people had control of our car parks we could reduce the cost in Quarry which I think would help to ease parking problems in the streets.

"It may not be a total solution but it would be a good start."
