John Ault selected as candidate for Mabe, Perranarworthal & St Gluvias by-election

John Ault, a local campaigner in Mabe, Perranarworthal & St Gluvias, has been selected as the Lib Dem candidate in the by-election due to be held on the 17th July.

Following the shock resignation of the UKIP Councillor for Mabe, Perranarworthal & St Gluvias after only 12 months in the position, a by-election has been called to fill the vacant role on Cornwall Council.

John, who is the only candidate to have stood in the Council elections last time in 2013, lost by only 82 votes then, and this time is hoping to go that one step further. Working as an associate lecturer at Penryn Campus, John has written extensively on Cornish politics and also appeared on BBCs Top Gear and University Challenge.

John says " I'm so pleased to be given the opportunity to stand again. I have been talking to residents a lot recently and really understand the things that matter to them. Speeding, parking, potholes and bus services are just some of the things that really matter to the local people here and its about time somewhat made sure these concerns were heard and we see some action. This isn't about the national picture or europe, this is about local concerns for local residents.

The residents of Mabe, Perranarworthal & St Gluvias need a strong voice on the council, and that is something I can offer them. I do encourage anyone with any concerns to get in contact. I will be passing through our villages over the coming weeks, knocking on doors to talk to as many residents as possible, to make sure everyone knows their concerns are being heard."
