TEVERSON JOINS WAVE FOR CLIMATE IN FALMOUTH

December 8, 2009 1:16 PM
Terrye Teverson joins students in Falmouth to push for climate change solutions in Copenhagen this week.

"It's really inspiring to see these students getting together and organising an event about political issues which affect all of us. At a time when there is so much apathy, it really is refreshing to see young people engaged and pushing for the change we so badly need."

Terrye Teverson joined students from Falmouth on Friday to wave goodbye to climate change.

The event, organised by Finn Raven - environment and ethics officer for Exeter and University College Falmouth Student Union, took place on Gyllyngvase Beach and was supported by students and locals alike.

"World leaders are meeting in Copenhagen this week to discuss ways of tackling climate change," explained Mrs Teverson, Parliamentary Candidate for Truro and Falmouth.

"The Mexican Wave event on Gyllyngvase Beach is just one such event around the world and shows governments that the people really do want action to tackle climate change in a responsible and timely way. For future generations there really isn't any other choice and hopefully world leaders will be able to lead the way forward and come out of these meetings with a positive message for us all."

This weekend saw a huge demonstration in London ahead of the Copenhagen talks. Cornish students wanted to make their voice heard and ran their own event to support others campaigning for change.

"It's really inspiring to see these students getting together and organising an event about political issues which affect all of us. At a time when there is so much apathy, it really is refreshing to see young people engaged and pushing for the change we so badly need. I was very proud to support them." Mrs Teverson added.
