PROBUS SURGERY - "A LOCAL SUCCESS STORY" SAYS TEVERSON

Since opening in two rooms of a house in 1976, Probus Surgery has come a long way and now provides nationally acclaimed surgical care to thousands of people every year.
The newly completed surgical suite which comprises of two highly equipped theatres, pre and post-operative patient rooms, supporting clinical space and two outpatient consulting rooms means staff can now treat more than 3000 people every year from across Cornwall and West Devon.
Local MP Matthew Taylor and Parliamentary Candidate for Truro and Falmouth Terrye Teverson were shown around the new facilities by Theatre Manager, Angela Le Ruez, last week.
"This surgery is a centre of excellence serving people in their own community and has really set the standard for clinical facilities in Cornwall." Mrs Teverson said.
"The recent U-Turn by Government Ministers to scrap prescription services at smaller rural surgeries has made a huge difference at surgeries like this. I just hope the Government will stop trying to cut corners in our community without thinking through the consequences. Probus Surgery is a perfect example of community healthcare and any plans to limit their services would have a negative effect on local people."
Terrye and Matthew were shown around the two new surgical theatre suites where minor operations are carried out and met patients and staff.
Mrs Teverson added: "The fact that you can come to a surgery like Probus for minor operations takes a huge amount of pressure of hospitals as well as making the experience more pleasant for patients. The services offered here bring care closer to home for rural communities and local people - it is a facility of which people are rightly proud."
